After you’ve finished with the turkey and the shopping, take a minute to give back to your favorite OS!

The Foundation is kicking off its prime giving season on one of the biggest giving days of the year, #GivingTuesday. Now in its 10th year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that brings together diverse communities to foster generosity .

The Foundation is calling on the community to channel your passion for FreeBSD into helping us increase our efforts for the Project in 2022. We realize that 2021 has continued to be very challenging and are extremely grateful for those who are able to help us this year. Your support, no matter the size, will have a lasting impact on FreeBSD.

What We Will Accomplish

Next year we will continue to support key areas like OS improvements, FreeBSD advocacy and education, CI, Security, and FreeBSD Infrastructure improvements. In addition, we plan on continuing to support the following areas:

  • Operating System Improvements: Providing staff to immediately respond to urgent problems and implement new features and functionality allowing for the innovation and stability you’ve come to rely on.
  • Security: Providing engineering resources to bolster the capacity and responsiveness of the Security team providing your users with peace of mind when security issues arise.
  • Quality Assurance: Improving and increasing test coverage, continuous integration, and automated testing with a full-time software engineer to ensure you receive the highest quality, secure, and reliable operating system.
  • New User Experience: Improving the process and documentation for getting new people involved with FreeBSD, and supporting those people as they become integrated into the FreeBSD Community providing the resources you may need to get new folks up to speed.
  • Training: Supporting more FreeBSD training for everyone. Growing the community means reaching people and catching their interest in systems software as early as possible and providing you with a bigger pool of candidates with the FreeBSD skills you’re looking for.
  • Face-to-Face Opportunities: Facilitating collaboration among members of the community, and building connections throughout the industry to support a healthy and growing ecosystem and make it easier for you to find resources when questions emerge.

Your donation on #GivingTuesdayFreeBSD will help us get one step closer to meeting these specific goals while continuing to serve the community in the ways you have come to expect.
