Foundation Letter
Welcome to the latest issue of the FreeBSD Journal.
This issue highlights something that has always made FreeBSD valuable: the flexibility to build systems around your own needs. Whether that means consolidating a home lab, running FreeBSD in the cloud, working directly with USB devices, or creating privacy-conscious security workflows, these articles show the range of what’s possible.
You’ll also find the latest We Get Letters from Michael W. Lucas, bringing his usual perspective to the choices and tradeoffs that come with building and running systems.
In the last issue, we announced that we were stopping the publication of articles as PDF files. Feedback from readers came soon after. After careful consideration, we are experimenting with a new process and plan to resume a modified PDF production of FreeBSD Journal articles. Please enjoy the articles in this issue in both web and PDF downloads.
The FreeBSD Journal is free for everyone to read, thanks to the individuals and organizations who invest in the FreeBSD Foundation and make work like this possible.
We hope you enjoy the issue and find a few new ideas to explore.
