The FreeBSD Foundation has officially announced a range of software development projects that will be launched in 2024, focusing on improving wireless networks and advancing cloud and file systems, among other areas. Read more
Alpha-Omega Grant
The FreeBSD Foundation is one of the four grant recipients of the Alpha-Omega project. The grant will be used to conduct code audits on critical subsystems, identify vulnerabilities and suboptimal coding practices, and improve the FreeBSD Project code. Read more
FreeBSD Foundation Sponsors Beacon Awards
The FreeBSD Foundation recently celebrated innovation and security at the Digital Security by Design (DSbD) Ecosystem Beacon Awards. The event, hosted at London’s Kia Oval on March 13, showcased trailblazers in the adoption and development of CheriBSD and Morello technologies.
Winning entries included a new OpenJDK port, virtualization architecture, and a CHERI memory protection model for server environments.
FreeBSD Foundation Statement on the European Union Cyber Resiliency Act
FreeBSD is a security trailblazer, and many leading security vendors trust our platform to provide their solutions. The FreeBSD community takes cybersecurity measures seriously to protect digital infrastructure and user data. We welcome the revisions made in the final version of the European Cyberresiliency Act (CRA), which contains important exceptions for open source projects, communities, foundations, and their development and package distribution platforms.
