It’s here and it’s free! The January/February 2019 issue of the FreeBSD Journal is now available. The issue focuses on Getting Started with FreeBSD.  What better way to share that message than by making the FreeBSD Journal freely available.

That’s not all. We’re also moving away from the Apple and Google mobile apps and debuting an enhanced, browser-based edition that will provide a much better experience for readers using any device—mobile or otherwise—for reading FreeBSD Journal. Beginning with the March/April 2019 issue, a new options menu will allow you to easily share articles with friends and listen to the articles with the new narration feature. Plus, jumping from issue to issue will be easier than ever with the new carousel
format.

If you currently view FreeBSD Journal on one of the mobile apps, please ignore any renewal reminders you may receive and check out our FAQ for more information on how to sign up for the free, browser-based edition. While you will still be able to access the Journal on your preferred mobile app until Dec. 31, 2019, we ask that you move to the browser-based edition to take full advantage of the new features.

Please note: We are also debuting a new registration form. Current browser-based subscribers who are already logged in will see an abbreviated version of the new form featuring two new questions. These are not required questions, though your input is very helpful for future planning.

We look forward to bringing the FreeBSD Journal to a larger audience and we hope you’l share your favorite articles.
