We’re pleased to share that the Open Source Summit North America 2026 will take place May 18–20 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Hosted by the Linux Foundation, this flagship event brings together developers, technologists, and open source leaders from across the globe to collaborate and shape the future of open source.

The summit features a wide range of tracks covering Linux, cloud and containers, AI, security, embedded systems, and more. Attendees can expect keynote sessions, technical talks, and opportunities to connect with the broader open-source community. Deb Goodkin, Executive Director of the FreeBSD Foundation, will be speaking at the conference.

We’re pleased to share that the CHERI Blossoms Conference 2026 will take place March 26–27 at the University of Cambridge. Hosted by the CHERI Alliance, this annual conference brings together members of the CHERI community, researchers, and industry leaders to explore the latest developments in CHERI-enabled technologies and cybersecurity. The event will feature live demonstrations, technical talks, and discussions covering new products, regulations, adoption challenges, and emerging technical work. Attendees will also have opportunities to connect with organizations leading innovation in secure system design.

In addition, a hands-on technical training day will be held on March 25 for those interested in gaining deeper practical experience with CHERI technology.

We’re pleased to share that planning is underway for a regional FreeBSD Hackathon in Wiesbaden this April. The event is designed to bring together local community members, but participation is open to anyone interested in contributing to FreeBSD. The goal is to collaborate, connect, and make meaningful progress on FreeBSD in a focused and supportive environment. The hackathon will take place April 24–26 in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Code & Compliance 2026 is a community event for open-source developers, project stewards, and industry stakeholders focused on software compliance, governance, and open-source security. The event will take place on January 29, 2026, in Brussels, Belgium. This gathering offers a platform for collaboration, sharing best practices, and discussing compliance challenges, an opportunity for the Open-Source community to strengthen trust, transparency, and long-term sustainability.

AsiaBSDCon is a conference for users and developers on BSD based systems. The next conference will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, in 19-22 March, 2026. The conference is for anyone developing, deploying and using systems based on FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, DragonFlyBSD, Darwin and MacOS X. AsiaBSDCon is a technical conference and aims to collect the best technical papers and presentations available to ensure that the latest developments in our open-source community are shared with the widest possible audience.

FOSDEM is a two-day event organized by volunteers to promote the widespread use of free and open source software. Taking place, January 31 & February 2026, FOSDEM offers open source and free software developers a place to meet, share ideas and collaborate. Renowned for being highly developer-oriented, the event brings together some 8000+ developers from all over the world. This year, there will also be a BSD Dev Room.

The FreeBSD developer summit takes place as part of the EuroBSDCon event. Many developers will arrive on the night before and meet for dinner and drinks before things kick off. Most developers will stay on through EuroBSDCon to give and attend talks or tutorials. It is an excellent conference–a good FreeBSD developer showing has countless benefits, not least the opportunity to tell the world what we’re doing.
